How to export iPhone contacts from iCloud to (Xiaomi) Redmi ?
If you have an iPhone and have turned on the contacts to sync with iCloud, then you can follow the steps below to transfer the contacts to your new(Xiaomi) Redmi.
i. Export iPhone contacts to a vCard file on the iCloud.
If you have an iPhone and have turned on the contacts to sync with iCloud, then you can follow the steps below to transfer the contacts to your new(Xiaomi) Redmi.
Note: Again, this method is only possible if you’ve your iPhone contacts synced with iCloud.
i. Export iPhone contacts to a vCard file on the iCloud.
- Go to icloud.com and sign in using your apple ID.
- Select Contacts.
- Click the Settings icon at the lower left corner, and then select Select All.
- Click the same Settings icon again, and then select Export vCard. A .vcf file will be generated, and please save this file on your computer.
- Go to Google Contacts and sign in using your Google ID.
- Next, go to More > Import.
- Click Choose File to select the .vcf file that was generated in Part i and then click Import.
- Next, you should see all the contacts get imported to My contacts, and a new contact group with the naming convention of [Imported + DD/MM/YYYY] created automatically.
- For housekeeping purpose, it’s fine to delete [Imported + DD/MM/YYYY] group. So, click on the group name, go to More > Delete Group.
- If you’re prompted for confirmation , tap OK.
- While the [Imported + DD/MM/YYYY] group is removed, you should still see all the contacts remain in My Contacts.
Note: Besides Google Contacts, you can also import the .vcf file to Xiaomi Contacts. See this guide for more information
ii. Sign in Redmi using your Google account.
To display Google Contacts on your Redmi’s Contacts app, you need to sign in to your Google account. If you’ve done so during the initial setup, then you should see all the contacts on your phone by now.
If you haven’t done so already, kindly follow the steps below to sign in to your Google account on Redmi :
- On your Redmi, find and launch the Settings.
- Scroll to the Accounts section, and tap +Add account.
- On the Add an account screen, tap Google and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the sign in.
- Once it’s completed, the contacts of the Google account should appear on your Redmi’sContacts app.
Note: The steps here were written for Android 4.2.2 on a Redmi (HM1W). If you’re having a different model of Redmi or other version of Android, there’s a possibility that the steps and screenshots will be different.
