Xiaomi is working on clamshell-style Android device

Xiaomi might be the next manufacturer to launch a clamshell-style Android device, and possibly soon.TENAA, China’s equivalent to the United States’ FCC, shows that a device that looks like a clamshell phone was just certified, but it’s running Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat. Odd?
Not so much, actually. Many non-smartphone owners in China, as well as other Asian markets, have a hard time transitioning to smartphone that are just a slab and a screen, so this smart-flip phone is a perfect transitional step for many, which is likely why Xiaomi is going to launch this device.
The device in question looks to have, according to TENAA’s documentation, two 3.97-inch touchscreen, one on either side of the top half of the device.
Each display apparently has a 480 by 800 resolution, that’s qHD (not QHD) for those who prefer the letter distinction, and that resolution should be perfect for crisp text and images on this little phone .
The model number is SN-W2015, and the maker, as well as the name on the bottom of the rear of the device, translates to ‘rice’.The device’s internals are interesting, especially for a clamshell Android smartphone.
The SN-W2015 is reportedly powered by a quad-core processor running at 1.4 Ghz, backed by a whopping 8 gigabytes of RAM. then there’s the 16 gigabytes of internal storage, upgradeable using the MicroSd card slot on the phone, as well as an 8-and-2 rear-front camera array.
The external hardware is rather high-end-looking, with a gold-on-black style, with no other options shown or mentioned by TENAA. It’s obviously got a T9 layout for typing, but the typical buttons around the navigation pad are the Android buttons for home, back, multitasking, as well as a fourth that isn’t clear enough to recognize.
This device looks to also be packing LTE capabilities, specifically LTE FDD and TD-LTE, supporting Band 1, 3, and 41, as well as 800Mhz, 900Mhz, and 1800Mhz frequencies for normal 3G and 2G usage.
The application lists the certification date as August 31, so we could be seeing teasers for this new device rather soon, or more leaks, ahead of its official unveiling and launch.
