Xiaomi has just announced that the Mi 4i will now be available on open sale from today. This means that users will not need to wait for the weekly flash sale, and can just head over to mi.com/in or even the company’s ecommerce partners Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon to buy the smartphone.

This is not the first time Xiaomi is putting the Mi 4i up for an open sale. In May, the Mi 4i was available without registrations for two days. This time however, the Mi 4i open sale is here to stay, and does not come with an expiry date.

The smartphone is priced at Rs 12,999 and flaunts a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) IPS OGS display with a density of 441ppi. The display also features a technology Xiaomi calls“Sunlight display,” which essentially includes dynamic tone mapping that balances the screen legibility according to the lighting conditions.



Under the hood is a second-generation 1.7GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core (1.1GHz quad-core + 1.7GHz quad-core) 64-bit processor paired with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB internal memory.On the photography front, the smartphone features a 13-megapixel rear camera with CMOS sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and dual-tone flash. On the front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera, with f/1.8 aperture and 80 degrees wide angle lens.

The smartphone also features a 3,120mAh battery with quick charge support, which can charge the battery to 40 percent in an hour, and full charge in three. As per the company, the battery is good enough to survive up to 1.5 days. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots with both supporting LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS.

On the software front, the Mi 4i is the first Xiaomi smartphone to run on Android Lollipop-based MIUI 6. The company has added a few features aimed at the Indian audience including the Visual IVR. This feature essentially lets you manage IVR menus without listening to them. Xiaomi’s ROM now supports six Indian languages including Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
