Xiaomi Sold 5.1 Millions of Redmi 2A phones powered-by homemade processor from Leadcore in only 3 Months !!

At the close of the first quarter, Xiaomi announced the mega-affordable Redmi 2A, a variant of its Redmi 2 that was even more of a bargain. Three months later and with the second quarter closed for business the Chinese company has revealed that the budget Redmi 2A has been a monster success over its first period on sale.

Via its Weibo page Xiaomi confirmed that it sold a massive 5.1 million units of the Redmi 2A over the second quarter, and the device has not even rolled out to all its markets yet.

The handset is obviously not bursting with top shelf hardware, but for an entry level smartphone with a price of $98 there is little to complain about. It sports a 1.5GHz quad-core Leadcore processor coupled with 1GB or RAM, a 4.7-inch screen that has 720p resolution, an 8 megapixel rear camera, a modest 2 megapixel lens on the front, dual SIM capabilities, and even LTE connectivity.

The Redmi 2A also gets fast charging and Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, with the hope that Android 5.0 Lollipop will arrive on the device soon.
